Elvis Hammond has left Cheltenham Town after the striker's contract at Whaddon Road was cancelled by mutual consent.

The 29-year-old joined the Robins in 2008 from Leicester City and was tied to the League Two strugglers until the end of the season.

However, after netting five goals in 26 appearances this term, Hammond has been allowed to move on by Robins boss Mark Yates.

"Elvis has got a few things he needs to sort out away from football and because he lives in London it has been difficult for both Elvis and ourselves," Yates told the club's official website.

"We have come to an amicable agreement to cancel his contract which is the best decision for both parties.

"We would like to wish Elvis all the best with everything he does in the future and thank him for the service he has given to the club."
