Promotion hopefuls Notts County and Chesterfield clash on Tuesday, while fellow high-fliers Bury take on rock-bottom Darlington.

Fifth-placed Notts County could leapfrog third-placed Chesterfield and move into the automatic promotion berths with victory over the Spireites at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies are in form at present with three wins on the bounce for new boss Steve Cotterill, the latest a comfortable 3-0 victory at Accrington on Saturday.

But they will find it tough against a Spireites outfit who got back to winning ways at Cheltenham last time, which made it seven wins in their last eight league games for John Sheridan's side.

Coveted

Fourth-placed Bury could also claim a coveted automatic promotion berth with victory over rock-bottom Darlington.

The Shakers have dropped off the promotion pace after three successive goalless draws. But Alan Knill's side will still be confident of getting back on the scoresheet against a Quakers outfit who have leaked 64 goals in 31 league games so far.

Steve Staunton's side have lost their last five matches in succession to sit 16 points from safety, although they have three games in hand on third-from-bottom Cheltenham.

Second-from-bottom Grimsby are now just four points away from the Robins after ending a 25-game winless run with a 3-0 hammering of Shrewsbury.

But it will be tough against a mid-table Crewe outfit who will be desperate to gain a first win in four games to get their faint play-off hopes back on track.

Tribute

Macclesfield paid a fitting tribute to late manager Keith Alexander with a 2-0 win at Hereford on Saturday.

The Silkmen will be aiming to double up under caretaker boss Gary Simpson on their trip to Accrington, who have lost two in a row to see their play-off hopes slide.

The last of League Two's games on Tuesday sees Port Vale take on Bradford in a clash of sides with faint top-seven hopes.

The Valiants will be aiming to bounce back from a 3-1 home defeat to in-form Northampton, while the Bantams will be buzzing after a last-gasp 2-1 win at Rotherham, their third victory in four games as new boss Peter Taylor makes a big impact.
