Le Fondre: League Two top scorer
Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre has set his sights on rewriting the record books en-route to securing promotion from League Two.
Le Fondre grabbed his 26th goal of the season with the winner in Saturday's success at Dagenham & Redbridge.
The goal took him level with former Millers player and manager Mark Robins' tally of 26 goals in all competitions in the 2000/01 campaign.
Le Fondre's goalscoring exploits have attracted interest from clubs higher up the league pyramid, with Wigan and Newcastle believed to be admirers of the prolific 23-year-old.
Rotherham are currently two points adrift of the automatic promotion places and Le Fondre has the chance to surpass Robins' record of 26 goals in Tuesday's clash at Accrington Stanley.
Le Fondre is happy to equal Robins' goalscoring feat, but is focused on firing his side to promotion to League One.
"It is great to reach the same milestone as my old gaffer Mark Robins and if I can continue to develop as a player and have half the career as him I will be delighted," Le Fondre told skysports.com.
"There is a certain sense of irony that it was Mark Robins who signed me for Rotherham and I hope he will not take it personally if I break his record.
"It is always nice to score goals and break records, but it won't count for nothing unless we get promotion.
"It is the business end of the season and hopefully we can push on and get automatic promotion and I am focused on helping my side get the points to achieve that aim."
