Barnet striker John O'Flynn believes the Bees can finish on a high this season after pulling away from the relegation zone in recent weeks.

The League Two club were sucked into the relegation scrap after winning just once in 16 games between October and February.

However, Barnet have now created a 10-point cushion over the bottom two teams and top marksman O'Flynn, who scored his 16th goal of the season in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Accrington Stanley, feels they have turned a corner recently.

"We did plummet down the table and as each game went by we were getting sucked closer and closer to that relegation zone, but I feel that we are getting back to the stage we were at when we were rising to the top of the table," O'Flynn told skysports.com.

Nervous glances

"Obviously, there were a few nervous glances at the league table each week when we lost, but I really feel like we have turned the corner now and are looking forward to a successful end to the campaign."

Barnet started the season in fine form, storming to the top of the table in September, but O'Flynn believes their torrid away form caused their freefall.

He added: "We started off well and we gained a lot of confidence from our good start to the season. Even when we went a goal behind we believed that we could turn it around and we just got into a habit of winning.

"However, after that we got into a habit of losing games and once you pick that up it is hard to shake off.

"We lost that ability to bounce back after going a goal down and often our heads would go down when we fell behind and we'd cave in.

"Our away form was diabolical, but we are turning that around now, with the 2-0 win at Port Vale a fine example of that. We are now getting our confidence back and I felt that the win at Port Vale was a real turning point for us."
