Oxford United have continued their recruitment drive for the new season by signing Huddersfield Town defender Leigh Franks on loan.

Us boss Chris Wilder has been busy adding to his squad since the club secured a return to the Football League and has now brought in Franks until January.

Franks has been training with Oxford for the past three weeks and is looking forward to the opportunity of playing first-team football.

"I'm delighted to have been given the chance to come here," the centre-half told the club's official website. "From day one the lads have made me feel welcome and helped me settle in and there's a fantastic spirit about the place.

"Hopefully I can get a bit of experience under my belt. I haven't been getting in the team at Huddersfield and they have signed a few centre-halves over the summer so this is the ideal chance to get out and try to play a few games."

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark added: "Oxford is a club that get good crowds and I know their management team very well, having played with their coach Andy Melville at both Sunderland and Fulham.

"I've just spoken to Leigh and told him what a massive opportunity it is - he has to grab it with both hands."
