West Ham continued their solid pre-season form with victory over MK Dons but Bolton were heavily beaten by Oldham.

West Ham completed their fourth successive pre-season win as Julien Faubert and Carlton Cole netted in a 2-0 win over League One side MK Dons.

Matthew Upson and Jonathan Spector both made their first appearances since their return from the World Cup, while England goalkeeper Robert Green also played 45 minutes.

Tom Eaves' hat-trick ended Bolton's unbeaten pre-season run and gave Owen Coyle plenty to think about after his near full-strength side went down 3-0 to Oldham at Boundary Park.

Eaves, who replaced Warren Feeney when the Northern Ireland international picked up an injury, gave the League 1 side a 24th minute lead, doubled the lead four minutes before the break and completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute.

Marc Wilson's penalty gave Portsmouth a 1-0 win at South Coast neighbours Bournemouth after the hosts were penalised for a push in the box, while Norwich were held to a goalless draw by League Two Lincoln.

Varney double

Luke Varney's double and a fine goal from Dave Martin saw Derby come from behind to beat Burton Albion 3-1.

Varney missed a penalty three minutes before half-time and James Ellison made no mistake from the spot after the break to give Burton the lead before the Rams hit back.

Southend were held to a goalless draw in their latest pre-season friendly at Rushden & Diamonds where Anthony Grant went closest to breaking the deadlock as his first-half effort rattled the post.

Cheltenham and Bristol Rovers fought out a goalless draw in their clash at the Abbey Business Stadium, while late goals from Lewis Perkins and Tamer Tuna earned Charlton a 2-0 win over Bromley.

Sam Collins was on target as Hartlepool's pre-season campaign continued with a 1-1 draw against Whitley Bay, heading home in the 17th minute before Phil Bell levelled.
