Aldershot have been handed a boost after John Halls completed 90 minutes in a friendly against Bristol City on Tuesday.

The former Arsenal trainee, 28, has endured a frustrating period after spending the majority of last season sidelined through injury.

He was then unable to feature in the pre-season schedule but has been working hard to return to first-team contention.

Shots assistant manager Gary Owers said, "This was a major boost for the club.

"Not only did John play but the fact that he completed the match was a crucial plus point. In addition to that I thought he was our best player.

"He will be delighted with the progress that he has made and it all bodes well for the coming weeks too."
