Peter Reid has quashed reports that Plymouth Argyle have made an unsuccessful bid for Rotherham striker Adam Le Fondre.

In a story in Tuesday morning's Yorkshire Post, Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart claimed to have rejected a deal "in seconds" for Le Fondre from Argyle, which involved Rory Fallon moving in the opposite direction.

When asked whether he had made an offer, Reid told Argyle's official website: "No we didn't. I would find it remarkable that the Plymouth manager doesn't know about an offer being made."

A Rotherham club spokesman confirmed that no bid had been received for Le Fondre.

Meanwhile, defender Jim Paterson is back in training with Argyle after failing to agree a move to Greek club Kavala.

"I don't think the deal in Greece came up to his standard," Reid said.
