Simpson: Wants run to end

Paul Simpson admits Stockport face a huge test of character ahead of this weekend's crunch clash with Macclesfield.

Simpson has failed to steer County to victory so far this season and questioned his players' character after last weekend's 4-0 thumping against Shrewsbury.

The former Carlisle and Preston boss is demanding a vast improvement from his side at Moss Rose.

Simpson said: "We need to find a strength of character that allows us to go into a big game, roll our sleeves up and have a right good go at it.

"The run without a win for a Stockport County's first team has gone on far too long.

"It's a horrible monkey on our back that we've got to get rid of and we've got to do it as soon as possible."
