Thriller

However, the men from Kent did not roll over and another effort from Akinfenwa and a strike from Danny Spiller levelled the score, before Efetobore Sodje put Bury in front once more, not to be undone by Chris Palmer who grabbed an equaliser. Burton Albion moved into the top seven following a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Hereford United at the Pirelli Stadium.

Two goals in four minutes for the home side killed off any hope for the Bulls, with Richard Walker and Shaun Harrad both netting in the first half, before Russell Penn added another to secure the three points.

Lancashire rivals Macclesfield and Stockport were level on points before they locked horns at Moss Rose, but it was County who grabbed the spoils after a 2-0 victory.

The Hatters bagged their first win of the league campaign thanks to a strike from George Donnelly on the stroke of half-time and a goal from Mansour Assourmani after the break, with the Silkmen also missing a penalty.

Life in the Football League has been enjoyable so far for Stevenage, but last term's Conference outfit were held 1-1 at home to Crewe and ended the game with 10 men.

Denied

Experienced striker Marc Richards got the opening goal for Vale, and they returned home with three points in the bag after Justin Richards doubled the lead.

Meanwhile, in the final game of the day Accrington Stanley held Wycombe Wanderers 1-1 at home.

Stanley had held the Chairboys for the majority of the game but Matt Bloomfield struck after 67 minutes for the away side, as substitute Rory Boulding secured a point for Accrington.
