League Two round-up

There were wins for table-toppers Hartlepool, promotion chasers Walsall and Swindon Town, Macclesfield, Mansfield and Peterborough, whilst Torquay were beaten again, remaining rooted to the bottom of the table.

Walsall ended their run of four games without a win with a convincing 4-1 victory over Barnet at The Bescot Stadium, but had to come from a goal down to pick up all three points.

Oliver Allen (22) made the most of defensive errors to fire Barnet into the lead, before an Ian Hendon own goal (33) undid their hard work soon after.

Richard Money's [pictured] side took the lead after the restart as a Michael Dobson (54) header gave the promotion hopefuls the initiative.

Walsall wrapped up the win with a brace from Kevin Harper (65, 77) who joined on loan in midweek from Championship side Stoke City.

Barnet slipped into 16th, whilst Walsall kept the pressure at the top on league leaders Hartlepool, remaining in second.

The gap at the top remained at three points as Hartlepool earned a 1-0 win away at Boston.

Richie Humphreys (64) got the only goal of the game as his side maintained their incredible run of 17 games without defeat.

Macclesfield moved further away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over Grimsby Town at The Moss Rose Ground.

Paul Ince's side were 2-0 up within 20 minutes as Kevin McIntyre (9) fired his side into the lead from the penalty spot before Colin Heath (20) doubled the lead.

Grimsby were handed hope through Gary Jones (73) but a comeback failed to materialise.

Lincoln and Swindon switched places at the top, as Paul Sturrock's side earned a 1-0 win over Chester.

The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot as Jack Smith's (9) goal moved Swindon into third place.

Lincoln fell into fourth after a 2-2 draw away at Accrington Stanley.

Accrington twice came from behind, after Lee Beevers (15) took the lead from a corner, firing home as he stood unmarked in the box awaiting the inswinging corner.

Andy Todd (23) made it 1-1 before Scott Kerr (56) put Lincoln back in front after the restart. Paul Mullin (72) grabbed the equaliser, but Accrington slipped closer to the relegation zone into 21st.

MK Dons remained in the play-off places after drawing 2-2 with Notts County.

Martin Allen's side surrendered a 2-0 lead after Lloyd Dyer (26) and Dean Lewington (32) put them in the driving seat.

But Jay Smith handed his side a lifeline from the penalty spot on 40 minutes, before Stephen Hunt grabbed a dramatic late winner in the dying seconds of the game.

A late Julian Joachim (87) winner handed Darlington a 1-0 win at Plainmoor, adding to Torquay's misery.

The Gulls remain rooted to the bottom of the table and now sit seven points from safety. They could be even further behind come Sunday as fellow strugglers Wrexham take on Shrewsbury at The Racecourse Ground.

Peterborough climbed three places into 11th with a 3-0 win over Bury.

Three second half goals from Craig Mackail Smith (53), Ben Futcher (57) and Gavin Strachan (64) earned them the win.

Mansfield moved into 15th with a 3-2 win over play-off contenders Wycombe Wanderers.

Johnny Mullins (21) put Mansfield into the lead before Scott McGleish (27) equalised six minutes later.

Martin Gritton (36) put his side infront again, but McGleish (37) hit home for the second time less than a minute later.

Jonathan D'Laryea (87) got the late winner three minutes from time to give Billy Dearden's side the win of which they were fully deserving.

Elsewhere, League Two surprise package Hereford played out a 0-0 draw with Rochdale at Edgar Street.

Bristol Rovers' clash with Stockport County was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
