Hartlepool United all but secured promotion to League One with victory over Accrington Stanley, as Milton Keynes Dons lost at Shrewsbury.
The League Two leaders bounced back from defeat on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Accrington, with Richie Barker scoring the only goal from the penalty spot on 65 minutes.
Accrington had substitute Andrew Mangan sent off after 70 minutes at Victory Park.
MK Dons, meanwhile, squandered a first-half lead in a fiery encounter against Shrewsbury.
Clive Platt gave the visitors a ninth-minute lead, but second-half strikes from Derek Asamoah (53) and Neil Ashton (75) ensured the home side took all three points.
Jude Sterling was dismissed on 56 minutes as Martin Allen's men had eight players booked and one sent off.
With the results, Hartlepool opened up a 12-point gap between themselves and the play-off places and need just one point from their final four games to seal promotion.
Shrewsbury, meanwhile, climbed into the play-off places as Wycombe Wanderers only drew with Grimsby Town.
The Mariners came back from a two-goal deficit after goals from Scott McGleish (22) and Jermaine Easter (25) to snatch a 2-2 draw.
Gary Jones (71) brought Grimsby within a goal before Paul Bollard netted the equaliser with seven minutes remaining.
Stockport County beat Chester City 2-0 with goals from Anthony Pilkinton (22) and Tony Dinning (47), while Lincoln City drew away at Darlington as Lee Beevers (77) cancelled out Julian Joachim's opener (39).
At the bottom, Torquay United's hopes of survival slimmed further with defeat to Swindon Town.
The Gulls looked to have grabbed a point when Lee Thorpe's 82nd minute penalty cancelled out Blair Sturrock's early goal.
However, just a minute later Lucas Jutkiewicz (pictured) popped up with the winner for The Robins which helps their push for promotion.
Boston United moved out of the bottom two with a 4-1 thrashing of Macclesfield, coupled with defeat for Wrexham at home to Notts County.
Goals from David Galbraith (22), Drewe Broughton (44), Mark Greaves (65) and Jamie Clark (pen 80) ensured a commanding victory for Boston over Macclesfield, whose consolation goal came from Ashan Holgate (77).
Simon Spender's own goal dropped Wrexham into the relegation zone with a 1-0 defeat to Notts County.
Dean Keates scored the only goal as Walsall beat Hereford United, while late strikes from Craig Mackail-Smith (87) and Alan White (89) snatched the points for Peterborough United against Mansfield Town.
First-half goals from Barry Cogan (24) and Dean Sinclair (33) gave Barnet a 2-0 win at Rochdale and Rickie Lambert's double (30 & 61) for Bristol Rovers was enough at home to Bury.
