Mick Wadsworth has praised Hartlepool for their teamwork after going seven games unbeaten with a 2-1 win at his old club Carlisle.
First-half strikes from Gary Liddle and Adam Boyd put Pools in control before a Rory Loy penalty gave hope to Carlisle, only for them to miss a number of chances to equalise.
The result signalled Hartlepool's best start to a season and Wadsworth said: "I get a lot of pleasure out of that victory. It was all about good goals and good teamwork.
"It's just great for the fans and players. Let's try to get to 20 odd without defeat. It's a testament to the players because there's a fantastic spirit."
Wadsworth praised Boyd whose first-half stunner set Pools on their way to three points.
"It was a wonderful goal," he said. "He works extremely hard for the team and his goals are absolutely vital. He gave their centre-halves a tough time. I hope people see what he gives us in that respect."
