Swindon Town climbed back into the top three in League Two after a 2-0 victory over lowly Accrington Stanley.
With Milton Keynes falling to a 2-0 defeat at Peterborough, Swindon took their chance to leap-frog The Dons and Lincoln, who drew with leaders Hartlepool on Friday evening.
Swindon's victory at The County Ground came thanks to goals which all arrived in the second half as Jack Smith (48 pen) and Andy Nicholas (51, pictured) striking early after the break.
Walsall remain clear in second after a 1-0 win over Chester with Dean Keates's penalty on 67 minutes proving enough for The Saddlers.
Stockport missed the chance to go fourth as their wonderful run of form came to an end at Underhill as Barnet claimed a 3-1 win.
Tes Bramble (33) had given County the lead but goals from Oliver Allen (44), Dean Sinclair (47) and Liam Hatch (82) sealed the win for The Bees.
The relegation fight took a fresh twist as the bottom two sides, Boston and Torquay, both won.
Bottom of the table Torquay claimed their first win for seven games as they comfortably dispatched Wycombe 3-0.
All three goals were the first for the club for each player as Lloyd Kerry (20), Marvin Williams (40) and Chris Robertson (76) all registered to give Torquay the win which takes them to within six points of safety.
Boston now find themselves level on points with Wrexham and Accrington after their 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers at York Street.
Albert Jarrett bagged two early goals (3 & 9) for the home side and that proved enough as Rovers could only hit back once through Lewis Haldane (68).
Macclesfield are now just two points ahead of the drop-zone after they threw away a two-goal lead as they were held 2-2 by Shrewsbury at Moss Rose.
Matthew Tipton's brace (29 & 52) looked to have put The Silkmen on the road to victory, but they were denied as Danny Swailes (63) put through his own net and Leo Fortune-West (73) fired home.
Peterborough's distant play-off hopes remain intact after a 4-0 hammering of MK Dons.
The Posh claimed victory with two goals in each half, with Peter Gain (25), Gavin Strachan (39), Craig Mackail-Smith (79) and Richard Butcher (85) all finding the net.
One sour note for Darren Ferguson's side was the dismissal of Shane Blackett ten minutes from time.
Grimsby's recent run of good form continued as they claimed a 1-0 win at Hereford thanks to Paul Bolland's (76) late goal.
The Nottinghamshire derby at Meadow Lane ended goalless as Notts County were held by Mansfield, while Darlington and Rochdale also played out a 0-0 draw at Spotland.
