Watford have been chasing the highly-rated forward all summer and saw their fourth offer of £375,000 rejected last week by the League One club.

Deeney is unhappy with the club's stance to reject Watford's offers and deny him the chance of playing at a higher level.

The 22-year-old, who has just a year to run on his contract, has now decided to officially request a transfer as he seeks to win a move to Vicarage Road.

"I am disappointed in Walsall's continued rejection of offers for my transfer that are more than generous in the current financial climate," Deeney told

"What I find more disturbing, however, is their reluctance to communicate with the interested club in a mature and professional manner to try to resolve the position for the benefit of all parties.

"I have therefore submitted a transfer request to the club."
