Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair has signed a one-year contract with Lincoln City.

The 36-year-old ex-Jamaica international brings a wealth of experience to Sincil Bank having featured at the 1998 World Cup while also enjoying FA Cup and League Cup glory.

Full-back Sinclair has racked up over 500 appearances during his career which has also taken in stints with Leicester, Burnley and Huddersfield, before being released by the Terriers in May.

Lincoln boss Peter Jackson is delighted to have secured the services of a player of Sinclair's stature and feels he will lift the club on and off the pitch.

The daddy

Jackson told the club's official website: "Everybody knows Frank Sinclair. He's got the biggest car in the car park and he's got his own private registration. Frank is the daddy!

"He'll be good for me on and off the field. He's a real character. The lads will love him and the supporters will love him. He's a major signing.

"I felt we needed his experience in and around the club and we needed his experience on the pitch in terms of working with the young centre-backs that I've got so he's a terrific signing.

"Having someone like Frank Sinclair come to Lincoln has opened everything up for me and I'm also pleased for the fans.

"With the backing they've given me they deserve decent players and hopefully I'm bringing them to the club now."

Burch deal

Sinclair's arrival follows hot on the heels of goalkeeper Rob Burch, who has put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

The former England Under 20 international was attracting interest from other clubs in League Two following his release by Sheffield Wednesday, but has now sealed his switch after passing a medical.

Jackson added: "Since I let Alan Marriott go, the only 'keeper I wanted to bring in was Rob Burch and I'm absolutely delighted that he's said yes.

"The amount of interest that has been generated since he was released by Sheffield Wednesday has shown what a good keeper he is so it's another major, major signing for me."
