Wrexham have snapped up Shrewsbury Town defender Darran Kempson as they prepare for their first tilt at the Blue Square Premier.

Kempson agreed to join Brian Little's new-look squad after being told by Shrews boss Paul Simpson that he did not figure in his plans.

The former Crewe centre-back, 23, did not travel with Shrewsbury to their pre-season training trip to Spain.

Kempson previously played at Blue Square level during loan spells with Morecambe and Accrington Stanley.
