Shrewsbury have confirmed that they have taken ex-Doncaster goalkeeper Ben Smith on trial.

Skysports.com revealed the news earlier in the week and Shrews manager Graham Turner has now said that he is taking a look at the shot-stopper

Smith was released by Rovers at the end of last season having made just 29 appearances in four years and spent time on loan at Lincoln and Morecambe.

Turner said: "We need another keeper, whether that's Ben or someone else.

"He'll be working with the squad so we and Paul Gerrard can take a good look at him."
