Bristol Rovers manager Paul Buckle has urged fans at the Memorial Stadium to lower their lofty league expectations.
Many supporters believed Rovers would challenge for promotion out of League Two this season, but a stuttering run of form was compounded by a 1-0 home defeat to Aldershot on Saturday - leaving Buckle's side 16th in the league standings.
And the former Torquay boss has asked Pirates fans to add a little extra realism into their hopes for the coming campaign.
"The expectation needs to maybe come down a touch - this is a club that has only won one promotion in two decades," he told the Bristol Evening Post.
"We need to respect where we are - we are a League Two club for a reason, and these players are going to give everything they have got this year to try to get us somewhere near the top.
"But it is not going to be easy, it is going to be a tough season."
