Posh new boy makes amends

Peterborough striker Craig Mackail-Smith has finally arrived at London Road, to end a saga which had threatened to ruin life at his new club before it had begun.

The 22-year-old striker agreed to move to the League Two club in the January transfer window, in a deal which also saw Dagenham & Redbridge team-mate Shane Blackett make the same switch.

However, he failed to turn up at his new club at the beginning of last week, in an act of ill-discipline which saw Posh director of football Barry Fry issue a strong-worded statement on Friday which criticised the player's father, agent and solicitor.

It does, though, now look as if differences between player and club have been put to bed, with the forward having brokered a reconciliation with his new manager Darren Ferguson.

"Due to personal problems my arrival was delayed by a week," Mackail-Smith told the club's official website.

"But they are all behind me and I'm raring to go.

"I'm fully focused on my football and can't wait to pull on the Posh shirt with pride and continue scoring goals.

"This is my first league club and I'm looking forward to taking the opportunity I've been given."
