Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan was pleased with an improved performance despite being held 2-2 by bottom of the table Peterborough at London Road.

Dave Kitson twice put Boro ahead only for George Boyd and then Shaun Batt to level for the home side.

The draw means Strachan is still without a win since taking charge, but he was trying to look at the positives.

"We had more than enough chances to win the game, but there was far more right with our performance than wrong," he said.

"We just have to work on that aspect of the game as well as our awareness in moments of danger.

"Of course it is frustrating when you have the lead in football matches but don't go on to win them, but we could quite easily have won three of the four games I've been in charge for."

Peterborough's new manager Mark Cooper - who is also yet to win a game in charge - praised substitute Batt who earned his side the point.

"Shaun had a real go in the reserves during the week and deserved the chance to go on and make a difference," he said, although he was not happy about his booking for the celebration.

"I certainly haven't seen him do anything like that before, but it was a stunning goal ruined only by the fact we now lose him for a game due to the craziest rule in football.

"I would much rather have three points than one, but it is a start from which we can attempt to move forward.

"It is all about putting little runs of results together to try and get ourselves off the bottom and away from the relegation zone."
