Mariners deny Darlington

Grimsby came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw at Darlington.

Darlington looked good for the three points after going 2-0 up inside 25 minutes, but the game changed after the home side were reduced to ten men.

Alun Armstrongh got Darlington off to a flying start with the opening goal after just eight minutes.

Martin Smith doubled the lead on 25 minutes to leave Grimsby with a real mountain to climb.

Darlington were reduced to ten men when Darren Holloway gave away a penalty after a professional foul on Tony Thorpe.

From the resulting penalty Ciaran Toner pulled a goal back for Grimsby.

The visitors earned a point with Ricky Ravenhill scoring his first goal of the season eight minutes from time.

The point was good enough to lift Grimby out of the bottom four, while Darlington remain in ninth spot.
