Darlington have signed Southend striker Richie Foran on a one-month loan deal.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour at Roots Hall and has now been given the opportunity to play first-team football with a return to Darlington.

Foran, who has not played for Southend in more than a year and has only recently recovered from a knee injury, spent a period on loan with the Quakers last season.

And Darlington boss Dave Penney is prepared to take another risk on the forward as he looks to secure extra firepower to boost a push for League Two promotion.

Foran joined Southend in 2007 from Motherwell and has made 23 appearances for the Shrimpers in that time, scoring two goals.
