Crawley Town have snapped up former Preston North End and Crystal Palace defender Claude Davis on a free transfer.
Jamaica international Davis was released by Palace at the end of last season and he has recently been training with League One outfit Notts County.
However, he has opted to drop down to League Two to join Steve Evans' ambitious Crawley, who have been chasing the 32-year-old since the summer.
''I had a number of very good offers from a higher level of football in the summer but I kept thinking something better may be around the corner, I am glad my future has been sorted," Davis told the club's official website.
''Steve Evans was one of those managers who spoke with me in the summer and to be fair to the gaffer he has kept in touch with me.
''I have done a proper pre-season and I am as fit now as I have ever been. I have been training twice a day at Notts County and I am grateful to them.
''This football club is very ambitious and they want to be in the end of season play-offs in League Two. That is also my objective."
Crawley boss Evans added: ''We have signed a top-class international defender in Claude Davis.
''Claude is big, strong and aggressive. He is also quick which is what is needed at the heart of any defence.
"I watched him play in a closed-door match at Coventry City recently and I was once again impressed. He is very fit and raring to play.''
