Robertson: Linked with return

Inverness Caledonian Thistle hope to name Charlie Christie's replacement before Saturday's game with Dundee United.

Christie's resignation was confirmed on Monday after Inverness lost their opening three games of the new SPL season.

Former managers John Robertson and Craig Brewster have been linked with a return to the club, with director of football Graeme Bennett keeping an open mind about Christie's successor.

"The club has never retraced its steps before, but I wouldn't rule it out," said Bennett at a press conference.

"I would like to get a replacement in time for Saturday's game at home to Dundee United."

Part of family

Christie had been head coach for 18 months, but Bennett hopes he will remain at the club in some capacity.

Bennett added: "Charlie is part of the family here and has been a great part of the success we've had.

"We'd like to keep him here in some capacity and that is also his wish.

"I admire his honesty. This time when I talked to him on the Sunday morning I knew there was no point in trying to talk him around. I just knew for sure this time he'd made up his mind.

"Even when he took the job he had concerns and was honest about them at the time. I just think lately the pressures became too much."
