Carlos Cuellar claims he wants to stay at Rangers for life after being named Scottish Premier League Player of the Season.

The Spaniard only joined Rangers last summer but he has been rewarded for a superb debut campaign in Scotland.

Rangers boss Walter Smith was also honoured, receiving the Manager of the Year prize at the awards ceremony held at Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

Celtic's Aiden McGeady was named Young Player of the Year, ensuring it would not be a Rangers clean sweep of the top awards.

Cuellar's performances have seen him linked with a move away from Ibrox but he insists he is happy to stay with the club.

The 26-year-old has already helped Rangers win the CIS Insurance Cup and is now targeting further success in the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup and Uefa Cup this season.

"I have a contract for three years. I want to stay at Rangers for life," he said.

"I always liked the idea of playing in a big league with other big players but now I'm very happy here.

"I play in the UEFA Champions League, I can win the league, the Uefa Cup - now I'm playing in a big team in Europe.

"La Liga is the best league but when you play in a normal team, you play maybe one year in Europe. Here you can play every year in the Champions League.

"I think we will win the four trophies. I know my team inside out and we have a very good chance to win every trophy."
