McCulloch: Hopes for early return

Lee McCulloch has refused to give up hope of playing again this season, despite being told he faces six weeks on the sidelines.

McCulloch suffered a foot injury early in Rangers' midweek Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic, but played on for 70 minutes unaware of the damage caused by Paul Hartley's tackle.

The 29-year-old is now expected to sit out the final weeks of the campaign as Rangers chase honours in the Uefa Cup, Scottish Premier League and Scottish Cup.

However, McCulloch - who joined Rangers from Wigan last summer - is refusing to accept his season is over.

Chance

He told the Scottish Sun: "The docs have told me it's unlikely I'll play again this season because of the extent of the bone injury.

"There's an outside chance. I won't give up.

"I might have a shout but I'm told I'll be out for a minimum of six weeks so it doesn't look good.

"But I'm not going to give up on it. If there's even a slim chance I could play before the end of the season I'll be doing all I can to make that happen."
