Hamilton: Perfect start to season

Hamilton Academical are keen to turn Tomas Cerny's loan move into a permanent deal.

The Accies are the surprising early leaders in the SPL, picking up maximum points from their opening two fixtures.

They have conceded just once in those opening games, with Cerny impressing between the sticks.

The Czech shot-stopper arrived in Scotland from Sigma Olmouc last summer, having fallen down the pecking order at his parent club.

He admits that he is flattered by the interest being shown in his services, but is in no rush to push a transfer through as his loan deal runs until the end of the 2008/09 campaign.

He has also been left disappointed in the past when Hamilton and Sigma have failed to reach an agreement.

Approach

"Here in Scotland it is unusual for clubs to buy players for millions of pounds. Except for Rangers and Celtic," Cerny told Denik Sport.

"Other clubs rely on home-grown talents or look for players who are out of contract. As a result, Sigma were asking for too much money."

"I don't know anything more about a new approach so I will not let it weigh on my mind.

"I am on loan here until the end of the season so there is plenty of time."

Squad

Cerny admits that the club's flying start to the season has come as something of a surprise, but is insistent that everyone connected with the club will be doing their utmost to ensure that their season does not come to an abrupt halt.

"It has definitely been a surprise. For the public, the press, the fans and, maybe, even for us players. It has been a great start," he added.

"We will have to see where the season takes us. The good start has spurred us on.

"We have not strengthened over the summer very much, we have virtually the same squad which played in the second division.

"The two Glasgow giants are favourites and Dundee United can challenge as well."
