Gordon Strachan has played down comments from Artur Boruc concerning life at Celtic.

Boruc reportedly told a magazine in Poland that he 'did not think it was a good idea to make friends with people in football'.

He added that there were 'no deep relationships between football players' but Strachan is not worried by his goalkeeper's remarks.

Strachan is happy with the working environment at the club and has no problems with Boruc doing things his own way off the pitch.

He said: "I heard that the story was that Artur was a bit of a loner sometimes. There are people who are like that, who, once training is finished, like their own company.

"What he is saying that he doesn't mingle with the lads after training and I can understand that.

"Collectively we are very good. Lennoxtown is a terrific place to train and it's a great bunch of guys to work with.

"Occasionally we get serious when we are talking about tactics and things like that but we can enjoy ourselves and learn at the same time."

Hartley hits back

Celtic only have domestic matters to focus on after defeat to Aalborg in the UEFA Champions League ended their European adventure for this season.

Rangers, Hibernian, Queen of the South and Motherwell all failed to win any of their European ties this season and a debate has surfaced over the strength of Scottish football.

However, Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley has hit back at the critics.

He said: "I didn't see you criticising it last season when we got to the last 16 of the Champions League and Rangers got to the Uefa Cup final.

"Of course, we are all disappointed but that's just the way football goes at times.

"But it's all the criticism of Scottish football that comes with it. Were you criticising it last season?

"But you are criticising it now because we've had one bad season - sorry!

"Look at our home form, we are undefeated in the Champions League."
