Rangers star Steven Davis admits winning the SPL title would be an even bigger achievement following the loss of key duo Barry Ferguson and Allan McGregor.

Ferguson and McGregor missed Sunday's narrow 1-0 win over Falkirk after they were punished by the club for their behaviour on international duty with Scotland.

Both players were involved in a lengthy drinking session at the team hotel following the defeat to Holland, while they were also caught flicking V-signs on the bench during last week's win over Iceland.

Ferguson was stripped of the Rangers captaincy and both players were sent home after being suspended without pay for two weeks as a result of their behaviour.

The pair have also been banned from playing for Scotland again for life, while doubts hang over their long-term futures at Ibrox.

Davis concedes beating Old Firm rivals Celtic will be all the harder without two of their star performers.

"We all know they are two quality players and they would be a big miss to any side," said Davis.

"It would be a massive achievement if we were to go on and win the league and that's what the boys are focused on.

"We were also missing Kenny Miller and Kyle Lafferty through injury as well for this game. That happens throughout the course of the season.

"Obviously you wouldn't ask for these scenarios but it's something you have to deal with as you go along."

Davis insists the off-field controversy had not affected team morale as they battled to a vital win at Falkirk.

Asked what the mood was like in the dressing room, Davis said: "It was just business as usual. We were just concentrating on the game.

"We didn't play as well as we would have liked to but we showed good resilience to get the three points in the end."
