St Johnstone have suffered a blow with the news Martin Hardie faces a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Hardie picked up a knee knock in a behind-closed-doors game against Falkirk on Tuesday.

It is feared the 33-year-old may have sustained medial ligament damage with Saints boss Derek McInnes expecting Hardie to be sidelined for several weeks.

"It was a good work-out for a number of players on a very heavy pitch but Martin's injury has overshadowed what was a very worthwhile exercise," McInnes told the club's official website

"We'll assess it over the next day or two but my early thoughts are that it could lead to Martin being out for a week or two."
