Dundee United defender Paul Dixon faces a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The left-back suffered a recurrence of knee ligament damage in the Scottish Cup win at St Johnstone at the weekend.

Dixon's absence leaves manager Peter Houston with a selection headache, with Michael Kovacevic already sidelined because of a broken nose.

That would leave Sean Dillon as United's only recognised full-back for Wednesday night's clash with Hamilton.

Houston expects Dixon to be sidelined for a couple of weeks at least.

"We'll need to let his knee settle down over the next few days before we get a more accurate picture, but, right now, we are looking at him definitely being out for the next couple of weeks," Houston told the Evening Telegraph.
