The Gers allowed a 3-1 lead to slip through their fingers in their quarter-final contest on Sunday, meaning they now face an unwelcome replay to book a place in the last four.

Walter Smith ripped into his players after the lacklustre display at Ibrox, accusing his side of 'complacency' amid talk of a potential Treble.

He hopes he will get a reaction during Sunday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final against St Mirren, and strike ace Miller is adamant the experienced coach's words will be ringing in the ears of his stars when they take to the field at Hampden Park.

"Maybe we need it," said the Scotland international.

"We've had it maybe two or three times this season - everybody's had a wee kick up the backside to get our focus back on the job at hand.

"Sunday was another case of that.

"Being 3-1 up at home, the game should really have been seen out and been put to bed.

"The last thing we need is another game, another fixture having to be rescheduled.

"It's maybe a timely reminder that nothing's been won yet and we really need to work hard to gain any success this year."

Stung

Miller admits there is still a long way to go before Rangers can rest on their laurels, as none of the three pieces of silverware they are still chasing are wrapped up yet.

"The league's far from over," he said.

"We're in a cup final on Sunday and it's going to be another tough game, and we've got a possible three games left in the Scottish Cup.

"So we've not won anything yet.

"We're going to have to maybe not play pretty stuff, but we know we're going to have to dig deep and produce results.

"On Sunday, we did do that for maybe 65-70 minutes of the game and then I don't know if we just took our foot off the gas or took our mind off the job at hand and thought we were through to the next round.

"Obviously, we got stung."
