Rangers' young defender Danny Wilson believes veteran defender David Weir is the perfect role model.

The 39-year-old stopper is still performing consistently for Rangers despite being at the end of his illustrious career.

Wilson believes playing alongside Weir has benefitted his game and is looking to emulate his example on and off the pitch.

Fantastic

"Playing with Davie Weir has been fantastic for me," explained Wilson.

"He has been at the top for so many years now and is a quality player.

"When you see what he has achieved in the game and the way he carries himself on and off the pitch, he is definitely someone I look up to a lot.

"In training, he always tries to help me and talk me through different situations and I know I am lucky to be learning from someone like him."

Doubtful

Meanwhile, assistant manager Ally McCoist does not believe full-back Kirk Broadfoot will recover from his hamstring injury for Sunday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final with St Mirren.

"It looks as though Broaders is struggling," McCoist told the club's official website.

"He's been in the gym but it doesn't look as though he's going to make it and that's a real shame.

"We'll look at him as the week goes on and give him as much time as possible to get fit."
