Neil Lennon remains in the dark over his future at Celtic and does not expect a decision until the summer.

The former Northern Ireland international was appointed as caretaker manager until the end of the season at Parkhead after the departure of Tony Mowbray in March.

Lennon has indicated that he believes he is ready for a first-team management role after working at reserve level, but it remains to be seen if that will be at Celtic or elsewhere.

He said ahead of Saturday's match against Motherwell: "What I've been told - and I have no reason to disbelieve it - is that no decision will be made until the end of the season.

"I can't make it any simpler or plainer than that.

"Once the Hearts game (Celtic's last match of the season) is over I assume I will be told one way or the other what the future holds."

The former Celtic captain insists the Hoops players have to continue to perform for their own sakes, regardless of what impact it may or may not have on his future.

"They are not doing it for me, they are doing it for themselves, for their future here at the club," he said.
