Celtic have snapped up Swedish defender Daniel Majstorovic from Greek side AEK Athens.

The 32-year-old centre-half played in Sweden's 3-0 victory over Scotland last week and has a wealth of experience at club and international level.

Majstorovic becomes manager Neil Lennon's eighth major signing of the summer so far and has penned a two-year contract at Parkhead.

Following spells at a number of Swedish sides, the defender had stints at FC Twente in Holland before moving to Basel for €1.3million (£1m) in 2006.

Young duo

Meanwhile, the Hoops have also confirmed that Czech youngsters Filip and Patrik Twardzik have penned new contracts with the club.

The 17-year-olds have signed three-year extensions following their arrival at the club early last year.

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "When the boys came, they were two highly-sought after talents and they trusted Celtic in terms of developing them.

"It demonstrates that we can, and need to, develop our own talent and they are two great, exciting prospects."
