Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen is running the rule over a couple of trialists as he continues to try and bolster his squad.

The 43-year-old former Hibernian manager has been on a busy recruitment drive over the summer after the exit of several key players and he has attracted seven new signings to Rugby Park, including Finland international Alexei Eremenko on a season-long loan.

And Paatelainen will cast his eye over two unnamed foreign trialists ahead of the weekend clash with St Mirren and has revealed that he is not afraid to bring more foreigners into his Killie squad.

"The trialists are not Scottish but there is no reason for that," he said.

"Ideally I would like as many Scottish players as possible but if I feel that financially, or in terms of talent or the way we play, there are no Scottish players then we will look elsewhere.

"We are using our contacts to maximum and so far we have been successful."
