Nakamura: Impressed by Robson
Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura has admitted that he faces a fight for his place following the arrival of Barry Robson.
Robson joined from Dundee United during last month's transfer window and made a superb start to his Celtic career in the 5-1 victory at Aberdeen.
He replaced Nakamura after 73 minutes and scored with his first touch as he curled home a free-kick.
Nakamura has established himself as one of Celtic's star performers over the last couple of years but he concedes there is now serious competition for the spot on the right of midfield.
However, the Japan international is relishing the fight and believes he could even play in the same side as Robson.
"Ever since I came to Celtic, I've not had a trial for my place on the right side of midfield," Nakamura told the Evening Times.
"But now Barry has come here and he can definitely play out there and cut inside on his left foot, as I have done in the past.
"It's good to have competition, good for the team and for the individuals involved.
"I must now fight for my place, although Barry can play in more than one position.
"He is a strong player physically and he can play in the centre of midfield or out on the left-hand side as well."
