Three Celtic players have been named on the four-man shortlist for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year.

Rangers may still be in contention to claim a domestic treble, but Spanish defender Carlos Cuellar is the only representative from the SPL leaders to be nominated.

Meanwhile, Celtic's Scott McDonald, Aiden McGeady and Barry Robson are all in the running.

McDonald is the SPL's top scorer this season with 20 goals, while McGeady has put in a number of impressive performances both at home and abroad.

Robson only arrived at Parkhead from Dundee United in January, but has taken his fine early season form with him to Glasgow.

Youngsters

McGeady could dominate the ceremony at the Glasow Hilton on 20th April as he is also up for the Young Player of the Year award.

The winger is nominated alongside Falkirk midfielder Scott Arfield, Hibernian forward Steven Fletcher, Motherwell's Ross McCormack and Dundee midfielder Kevin McDonald.

The four nominees for the top award of the night will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Celtic's Japanese star Shunsuke Nakamura who took the prize last year.

Honour

PFA Scotland chief executive Fraser Wishart knows that the title of the league's best player is an honour which any player would be delighted to have bestowed upon them.

"This is the top award for players," he said.

"There is no greater honour in football than to be voted the best player in your country by your fellow professionals."
