Skysports.com understands James McFadden is set to leave Birmingham this summer.

A number of clubs are targeting a move for McFadden and are hoping to cash-in on Birmingham's relegation from the Premier League by luring him away from St Andrews.

Birmingham, who signed McFadden from Everton, during the January transfer window, know they face a fight to keep hold of the gifted Scot following their fall into the Championship and they could find it hard to resist a big-money offer for the forward.

McFadden made an instant impact at Birmingham scoring four goals in ten starts, but he crucially missed a few of Birmingham's games at the end of the season through injury as they suffered relegation.

Celtic

Celtic are thought to be leading the chase for the 25-year-old with Gordon Strachan a confirmed admirer of the skilful attacker.

The SPL champions tried to sign McFadden during the January transfer window before he made the move to Birmingham and the Scottish titans are ready to rekindle their interest in the former Motherwell man.

A number of Premier League clubs are also thought to be monitoting McFadden's situation and are ready to offer the player a quick return to the top flight.

Sources close to McFadden claim the player is reluctantly ready to move on as he wants to continue plying his trade at the highest level to safeguard his place in the Scotland side.
