Celtic have offered United States international midfielder Sacha Kljestan a trial which will begin on Saturday.

The 23-year-old will be offered a six-day opportunity to impress manager Gordon Strachan ahead of a potential £3.5million deal.

Kljestan has impressed with the Major League Soccer club and has forced his way onto the international scene, making 11 appearances for the USA.

The attack-minded player scored five goals in 22 league appearances for Chivas in 2008 to catch the eye of Strachan, who is searching for cut-price January deals.

Kljestan also netted two goals in three games at the Beijing Olympic Games to reinforce his growing reputation.
