Adam: Impressed on loan
Blackpool boss Tony Parkes has revealed that he hopes to secure a permanent deal for on-loan Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam.
The 23-year-old has been with the Seasiders since February and has gone on to make a fine impression at the club despite a nightmare sending-off on his debut.
But with the loan contract now coming to an end, Parkes faces the difficult task of signing the young Scottish international on a full-time contract at Bloomfield Road.
"I have spoken to our club secretary and we will be in touch with Rangers to see if we can do a deal for Charlie," Parkes told the Daily Mail.
"I know Charlie has not been involved at Rangers, but they are a top club. He was unable to get a starting place in their team for any length of time but he has been excellent for Blackpool and we would be delighted to get a deal done.
"We are trying to get it sorted as quickly as possible - if it is able to happen. I think Charlie would like to stay with us. He has enjoyed his time here and hopefully we can get an agreement."
However, Blackpool do face several barriers to the deal as no future fee was written into the loan deal, meaning that the club could be priced out, or out-bid by a rival team.
"There was no fee struck when Charlie came on loan, so that has to be negotiated. It is a problem Charlie has set for us because he has played so well that we want to keep him," Parkes added.
"When you come on loan to any club, you put yourself in the shop window. We are aware there might be a bigger club lurking around the corner who might prove more attractive for him. That's the way football goes, but we are trying to get in first."
