Portsmouth have completed the loan signing of Milan Baros from Lyon.

Baros will spend the rest of the season on loan at Fratton Park after he was allowed to leave by French champions Lyon.

The Czech Republic international has struggled to establish himself at Lyon and he was keen on a move away to get regular first-team action ahead of Euro 2008.

The former Liverpool and Aston Villa hit-man passed a medical at Pompey on Sunday and he has now sealed his return to England.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp moved for Baros to bolster his attacking options after losing Kanu and John Utaka to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Baros is expected to make his debut for Portsmouth against Manchester United on Wednesday.

Redknapp believes Baros will prove a valuable addition to his squad.

"It's a terrific opportunity to have a look at him," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"He's a good player. He was the Golden Boot winner at a European Championship. He's got pace and makes good runs."
