Silvestre: No Samaritan
Mikael Silvestre admits a summer switch to Bordeaux is 'not impossible', but he will not leave Manchester United if it means taking a pay-cut.
The France international has recently returned to the playing fold after long-term injury and has looked sharp whenever called upon by Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, with Patrice Evra firmly established as the club's first choice left-back and Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand imperious at the heart of United's defence, a move away from Old Trafford could be Silvestre's only chance of securing regular playing time.
Bordeaux are managed by Silvestre's former team-mate Laurent Blanc and while he concedes his admiration for the club, it would appear Silvestre is not ready to move unless the money is right.
"I know Lolo (Blanc) as we played together at Manchester. Last year, we talked about a possible transfer," Silvestre revealed.
"So it is not impossible. Now I have to think about it. Bordeaux is the club in my heart. When I was young I was following their feats in the European Cup.
"However, everyone has to take advantage, both on a sport and financial level. In that milieu you can't make any gifts.
"I am not a good Samaritan. Today I just have one objective: playing and not getting injured again."
In other Bordeaux news, second string goalkeeper Mathieu Valverde has signed a new contract that binds him to the club until 2010.
