Paris Saint Germain president Charles Villeneuve has admitted he would love to bring William Gallas to the club.

Reports last weekend suggested PSG were lining up a swoop to sign the fomer Marseille star as they look to assemble a squad capable of challenging Lyon in Ligue 1.

PSG have been busy in the transfer market, bringing in experienced performers Claude Makelele and Ludovic Giuly and Villeneuve would welcome the prospect of Gallas moving to the French capital.

When asked about interest in Gallas at the unveiling of Makelele, Villeneuve said: "I'm delighted. I've been told about it this morning [Monday]. And Paul [Le Guen] as well.

"But for the moment there's no news. We would be happy to be given a ring by William Gallas, very pleased."

A move to PSG for Gallas seems unlikely, with the player and Arsenal unlikely to entertain a switch away from Emirates Stadium.
