Lens president Gervais Martel has played down the chances of Aruna Dindane joining Monaco.

The Ivorian striker's future has been the subject of intense speculation this summer and Monaco were thought to be in pole position to sign him.

However, Martel expects the 28-year-old to either remain with Lens or embark on a new challenge in a different country.

"There is only one chance in a thousand for Aruna to join Monaco as we speak," Martel told Nice Matin.

"He will only go abroad or stay here with Lens, he is a great player."

Premier League ambition

Dindane, meanwhile, has expressed a desire to ply his trade in England and reports have suggested he could be a target for Stoke, Wigan, Sunderland or Hull City.

"My dream is to play in the Premier League, I don't want to stay here in the French league," he told skysports.com.

"The president agreed to let me leave if a club meet his valuation and I am grateful to him. He is a great man who helped me a lot.

"My agent in England Saif Rubie is working towards that."
