Former Celtic defender Bobo Balde has signed for Valenciennes until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old departed Celtic in the summer after eight years with the club, and was linked with Birmingham City and Wolves.

After training with a number of clubs, he has now agreed terms with Valenciennes until the end of the season.

The Guinea international spoke to skysports.com after finalising his move.

"I am delighted to return to the French top division after leaving France eight years ago," the former Toulouse man said.

"Valenciennes have given me a ticket back here, I will bring them my experience and maturity. I will also guide their young players.

"I am happy, all went like planned, all parties are happy, so let's start picking up some points and be ambitious."
