Bordeaux ran out emphatic 4-1 winners against Lorient in the French League Cup, while Lens beat Brest 2-1 in the Coupe de France.

Ligue 1 leaders Bordeaux had gone behind in their semi-final fixture against fellow top-flight side Lorient, but they hit back to win in superb style away from home against 10 men.

Laurent Koscielny had given Lorient the lead on 11 minutes at Sade du Moustoir, but he turned villain as he was sent off 12 minutes later.

The French champions responded as Wendel converted the resulting penalty on 23 minutes and after striking back to equalise, Les Girondins then came home at a canter thanks to goals from Marouane Chamakh, another from Wendel and a final strike from Yoan Gouffran.

Lens, meanwhile, made hard work of second-tier Brest in their Coupe de France clash although they did manage to book a quarter-final place against St Etienne with a 2-1 victory.

Adil Hermach had given Les Sang et Or the lead just before the half hour mark but Brest equalised through Nolan Roux on 57 minutes at Stade Felix Bollaert.

The game went to extra time but the home side nicked the win thanks to a goal from midfielder Marco Ramos, with the Lens fans thankful to avoid a penalty shootout.
