Sir Alex Ferguson has advised Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc against taking on the job of France coach after the World Cup finals.

Blanc has been mooted as the leading contender to replace Raymond Domenech in charge of Les Bleus following this summer's tournament in South Africa.

However, Manchester United manager Ferguson believes it is too early in his coaching career for Blanc to accept a position with the national team.

"I believe he is too young to become a national team coach," Ferguson told Canal+.

"It is a position that would better suit an older coach with more experience. I believe Laurent still has a lot of things to do before taking such a job.

"He is leading the league with his current team, he has success in the Champions League, he should remain at Bordeaux."

Annoyed

Blanc, who has been mentioned as a possible successor to Ferguson at Old Trafford, remains uncertain about his future, but is not planning a long career in coaching.

He told L'Equipe: "I am annoyed with the media coverage about my future. Seeing, hearing or reading about me everywhere. I can't stand myself anymore!

"I have a lot of ambition, but I know to achieve that I will need to get more results because my three years at Bordeaux have confirmed my opinion that I will not do this wearing-out job for a long time.

"I am under no illusions. The opportunity to coach a big club won't happen so easily.

"Could I remain for a fourth season at Bordeaux? It would not annoy me at all. Three or four years is already a lot, even in a club that works fine.

"Today, if someone can tell me what I will do tomorrow, he is very strong! I don't even know it myself."

Meanwhile, France legend Zinedine Zidane feels Ferguson's comments may suggest the current United boss has Blanc in mind as his eventual replacement.

Zidane said: "Maybe Mr Ferguson has something at the back of his mind. He will probably not carry on with his job for his whole life."
