Bonaventure Kalou claims to have a serious offer on the table from Ligue 1 new boys Arles-Avignon.

The 32-year-old forward is currently without a club after being released by Heerenveen at the end of last season.

The Ivory Coast international has gone some six months since he last made a competitive appearance, making it all the more difficult for him to have caught the eye of potential employers.

He is, however, in the thoughts of Arles as they prepare for life in the French top flight.

Kalou admits to being intrigued by the offer, but knows that until the paperwork is signed he must continue to keep his options open.

"Arles-Avignon have contacted me," he told France Football.

Challenge

"It is rather informal at the moment, rather than something official. There has been contact, but nothing has been signed.

"I should be back in France on Saturday and I will go to meet with Arles officials and see what they have to say.

"I am still only 32 years old and I believe I could play for another three seasons.

"I am looking for a club and they are looking for experienced players.

"I am very motivated by the challenge. I have lost almost two years of football.

"My objective now is to find a suitable club and to start having fun again. Arles-Avignon could allow me to find that."
